THE POWER OF BEING VULNERABLE
If you can't watch the video here try out the link on YouTube here.
Surround yourself with the right kind of people
To make your goal come true you need to find the right people what will help you make it happen. Find people that inspire you, that serve to guide you and that you can learn from. People that support you and are not there to bring you down. People who can complement and help you.
This isn't to say that you have to give up on everyone else - it simply means they are not the people to turn to when it comes to making your project a reality.
Now here are some interesting on-line communities and groups you might want to tap into:
MONTH TWO: your destination
Last week we talked about certain goals you'd like to achieve by June/ July time. I thought focusing on three, for the moment, might be a good idea. Making this exciting rather than daunting.
Here are three of the goals you mentioned:
MAKING THESE GOALS HAPPEN
Before you start I would encourage you to think and take 10mins to write exactly why you want to reach these goals. It is the WHY that will inspire you to go for them and keep you going even when things don't go to plan.
Next, please read this article (5 minute read). The advice here is simple and doable. And I love the "apple a day analogy". Read it and after that think when it comes to your work what is the one thing you can do every day (your apple a day) to get closer to these goals?
..."it's not what happens that determines the major part of our future—because what happens, happens to us all. Instead, ... the key is what we do about it. If we start the process of change by developing a plan, doing something different the next year than we did the previous year, it won't matter how small those efforts start. Start doing different things with the same set of circumstances—the ones we've always had and cannot change—and see what miracles occur..."
Next week we can talk in detail about the things that you can do to make each goal a reality.
FEELING GUILTY ABOUT MAKING MONEY
I came across this video by Marie Forleo (it has a few silly animations) but the overall message is a good one to take on board.
WEEK ONE: Start with the end in mind. Dare to dream big
Last week we talked about coming up with a plan - a roadmap that will show you the way to where you want to go. (the book by Cyril Peupion which you've borrowed and his website can help you with the detail of this process).
However, to ensure that this roadmap takes you in the right direction, I would like to emphasise on the importance on being clear about the destination. So, using your 'have a go book' why not try out these exercises:
Decide an area of your life you want to work on (so far we have been focusing on your business. So use this area to begin with but feel free to apply this exercise to other areas of your life too).
I know it's sometimes hard to imagine these things. Which is why you have the 'have a go book'. This book is about trying out new things. Without judgment. You don't have to overthink this. Just write/ draw what comes to mind and what feels right for you. It doesn't matter if it looks unrealistic on paper. Because the next step is to not only have a vision of the outcome (destination) - but also envision the process (journey).
Watch this video for some extra instruction and inspiration (it's only 10mins long):
SEE IT • BELIEVE IT • ACT ON IT
Be sure to then write out all the different things that you can do to help make this vision a reality. What things/ rituals can you do every day that will help take you closer to this vision/ goal. This is what will make the detail of your action plan/ your road map.
MOVING FROM KNOWLEDGE TO ACTION
Watch Mel Robbins' interview where she explains the 5 second rule. This can be a tool (little trick) to help you when you need to get started/ really get moving.
MONTH ONE: your identity
WEEK FOUR - TO DO
DISCOVER • LEARN
REFLECT • GROW
I thought I'd share this video with you - I find the company that this lady has created really interesting (it's about transformational nutrition), but more importantly her story is super inspiring. Watch it only if you have the time.
WEEK THREE • DONE
LOGO AND WEB DESIGN • outsourcing
Here are three options for your logo and web design:
The other one I used in the past was TimeEtc. But I'm not sure they do design work. Still you could get in touch and double check.
ALIGNING YOUR PERSONAL VALUES WITH WHAT YOU DO
Now, I think we can dig a little deeper to really understand the other two key values you discovered:
Being active/ in action (which I have a feeling is really 'a sense of achievement')
And wonderment and gratitude (being wowed by nature).
Let's discuss these a little more next time we meet so you are able to identify ways to use these for your benefit.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
We all have a need to feel that we matter. It's part of our nature so don't feel bad for feeling this. The focus now is on acknowledging all the different ways in which you make an impact.
In this instance - we are going to focus on how you make a difference to the people you work with.
PLANNING • PRODUCTIVITY TOOLS
Combine these two great tools to generate greater results and perhaps a greater sense of achievement.
WEEK TWO • DONE
YOUR MISSION STATEMENT
It's time to put your WHY • on your site. Use language that resonates with you and don't worry about making it perfect. This is work in progress - websites can be changed at any time - so you'll have plenty of opportunities to refine this.
Here are some resources to help you along the way:
PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL • your flyer • TO DO
TIME FOR REFLECTION
Take some time to think about our conversation today and go over those moments that brought you happiness. Think about all the feelings you associate with those moments - this will help you define what happiness means to you.
From our chat I identified connection • belonging • vitality • nature as being key in your life. Do you think these are some of your core values? Are there others which you think are more important?
Once you are aware of your core values, you'll begin to understand what's got you to where you are and probably what will help you move forward. We can work more on this in our next session.
WEEK ONE • DONE
DEFINING YOUR CORPORATE IDENTITY
Start by - watching this video by Simon Sinek. It will help you to better understand what differentiates you from others (use headphones because the sound is not great).
THEN, check out the following resources to help you refine your USP:
